Acid monotoring and control - NaOH monitoring and control
Bi-sulfite monitoring and control - Sludge disposal into 55 gal. drum
Basic operation and chemical theory:
Hexavalent chromium is reduced to tri-valent state with sodium
bisulfite
1) Reaction is instantaneous at PH level 3.0 or lower
2) Caustic soda is introduced to raise PH level to 8.0/8.5
This produces chromic hydroxide (and insoluble which precipitates and
drops out.
3) Zinc elements of the solution are converted to zinc hydroxide
(an insoluble which precipates).
